Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door…and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).
With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.
On deck, we have: Sameena, a Senior Associate for B2B Marketing at Grubhub. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.
Let’s meet Sameena
Hi! I’m Sameena. I grew up in the great state of Texas, but have early roots in India, Singapore, and the Philippines. Moving around as a kid made me especially love different types of food- perfect for when I moved to New York over two years ago and began eating my way through the city.
When I’m not at work (where I am on the fab Corporate Marketing team), I’m usually at outdoor yoga, dancing it up at Kinfolk, or sipping on iced matcha in the West Village. My friends and roommates know me as the one always down to order some delivery, which is a reputation I am proud to say working at Grubhub has helped me maintain.
And here are my top delivery eats from last week…
Impossible Taco from Mexicue
Have you tried the Impossible Burger yet?? I’m definitely of the camp that it tastes pretty darn close to meat… but I’m also a fan of most vegan eats. Either way, I can’t imagine anyone not falling in love with the Impossible Taco from Mexicue. Plus, everyone who works there is seriously so nice! When I went to pick up my Grubhub order, they gave me all these sauces to try (the creamy one is the best). I paired the Impossible Taco with a Shrimp Taco for a sustainable and delicious Monday lunch.
Chicken Tikka Roll from Kati Roll
I can never resist Kati Roll! I’m Indian and can never get enough of a Chicken Tikka Roll and Mango Lassi. They always hit the spot. I used my mealperks to get this for a midweek lunch and chose pickup because it’s so close to my office! Also, I order it so much that it was easy to just express reorder from my Grubhub homepage to make it even more convenient. Pro tip: if you haven’t tried their spicy chips yet, they are a must.
Custom Salad from Sweetgreen
Contrary to what this food diary suggests, I actually care about my health (lol) and my favorite salad is definitely this DIY from Sweetgreen! Sweetgreen is known for its insane lines, which is why ordering ahead with Grubhub has been a lifesaver. My favorite combo is warm quinoa + spinach for the base, tofu, spicy broccoli, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, carrots, basil, goat cheese, and tortilla crisps. I top it all off with a light squeeze of their famous Spicy Cashew dressing with another squeeze of their Miso dressing. Yum!
Udon Kee Mao from Very Thai
After a long week, I couldn’t wait to get home, change into my pjs, and order some Thai. I decided to try this chef’s special from Very Thai. It’s Pad Kee Mao, but with Udon noodles! I was super impressed with their fresh veggies and perfectly fried tofu, along with the medium spicy flavor of this dish. Plus, they were right on time! So glad I found them through filtering for free delivery and sorting by lowest delivery time on my Grubhub app… it made it easy to make sure the food was at my door right when I was.
