What I Ate in a Week: Karenza’s Food Diary

Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door… and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).

With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual—never not hungry—Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks”—our weekly Grubhub credit. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.

On deck, we have: Karenza, an Account Advisor at Grubhub. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.

Let’s meet Karenza

Hi, my name is Karenza (pronounced kuh-Ren-zuh). Since I joined Grubhub seven years ago, I order at least five times a week. Currently, I’m an Account Advisor on the Restaurant Network team. I live with my roommate and cat in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago. My roommate and I love using Perks and are always excited when Grubhub adds new features.

Outside of work, I’m a homebody. I love relaxing at home and bingeing the latest on Netflix. I also have major wanderlust. I travel several times a year because I love learning about different cultures and seeing the world. Some of my favorite foods are tacos, sushi, scallops and chicken quesadillas.

Here are Karenza’s top delivery eats from last week…

Avocado Toast from Waffles

Waffles is my go-to when I am too lazy to cook in the morning. Their food is so tasty and delivery is pretty fast. You’d think breakfast is the worst traveling food, but I haven’t had any issues. I’ve cut down on ordering sweet items so I decided to order avocado toast. The freshness of the spinach was everything. Avocado toast from Waffles is always very delicious!

Jumbo Shrimp from Chi Cafe

I try to have dinner with my grandmother once a week. If I don’t feel like cooking, I’ll order from Grubhub. She’s in love with the deep-fried jumbo shrimp in thousand island sauce from Chi Cafe. She’d definitely want everyone to give this dish a try. Chi Cafe is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Fast delivery and hot food. What more could you ask for?

Lettucewich from Which Wich

I try to eat low-carb meals at least four days a week. Honestly, I wish more restaurants had low-carb options for people like me. Which Wich offers the Lettucewich, which is a great option for the days when I’m craving a sandwich but can’t have bread. I tried the Chicken Salad Lettucewich. It’s pretty much a handheld salad (but with a little bit of imagination it’s chocolate cake). The Lettucewich is great, but I do miss the carbs. I’ll usually choose Which Wich when I shop because I can easily pick up my food with no worries about it going bad while I’m trying on clothes.

Fried Chicken from Popeyes

Every so often a couple of coworkers and I will put our mealperks together and place a group order. It’s pretty awesome because you have more people to help pitch in on tips and the delivery fees. Grubhub makes it super easy for us to receive orders. We’ll usually have the person least likely to be in a meeting be the point of contact—a.k.a me. My coworker suggested Popeyes because it’s fast food. How can you go wrong with Popeyes? The chicken is crispy, it travels well, and it’s so savory!

Tune in next week for the latest edition of “What I Ate in a Week.” Will it make you hungry? Probably… but, we can help with that.
