What I Ate in a Week: Isabel’s Food Diary

Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure

delicious food finds its way to your door….and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).

With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.

On deck, we have: Isabel, a Senior Associate on our Restaurant Marketing Team. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.

Let’s meet Isabel.

Hi! I am Isabel and I am on the restaurant marketing team. I am a huge foodie; guess I work for the right company! I am always planning my next meal–which honestly, is sushi most of the time. When I am not eating or thinking about food, you can find me bopping around the city, reading a book in the park, planning my next vacation or going to a workout class. I live at the intersection of some of the best restaurant-packed neighborhoods in NYC–and luckily, there’s this cool app that allows me to try them without having to leave my apartment. (Cough, Grubhub, cough.)

And here are my top delivery eats from last week…

Palm Beach Shrimp Salad from Chop’t

Chop’t has been my go-to salad place since I was an intern living in NYU dorms. It’s easy, quick, and never disappoints. Since the line can wrap around the block, I always opt for pick up. I eat Chop’t at least once a week and as a creature of habit, I have only tried one salad and have continued to get it for 6+ years. I like what I like, so why change? It also makes using the express reorder function on Grubhub quite easy. The only thing I experiment with is the dressing. My favorite this month has been the Greek yogurt tzatziki–and then I add a bit of sriracha. Other dressing faves of mine are: the spicy sesame, white balsamic, and classic balsamic.

Bagel Spread from Ess-a-Bagel

Once a week we order breakfast or lunch to the office. This week we got Ess-a-Bagel to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Seamless–our NYC-centric sister brand! Ess-a-Bagel has been on Seamless for all 20 years. They do a great catering spread which includes fruit, an assortment of bagels, a variety of spreads and lots of coffee. Fun fact: Grubhub & Seamless have recently launched catering menus on the platform so that diners can search for restaurants that offer catering easily. As part of the weekly ordering committee, it makes it easier for me to order for my team ahead of time. (Pro tip: it’s also great if you’re ordering in to watch this week’s rose ceremony with your friends.)

Spicy scallop and crab rolls from Bondi Sushi

I love sushi. I try to order sushi for lunch once a week–and lucky for me, most restaurants offer two-roll lunch specials! When I am in the mood for a special treat, I order from Bondi Sushi. They offer high-quality fish with three rice options: cauliflower, white rice, brown rice. My favorite rolls are the spicy scallop (with white rice) and the crab roll (with brown rice). This week, my coworker Aaron and I decided to order together and used our Venmo to easily split the bill. (Learn how to do it too by reading our blog!)

Assortment of Cookies from Schmackary’s

In addition to my love for sushi, I also have a big sweet tooth.  Dessert is my favorite meal of the day, especially if it’s twice a day. I ended this week on a sweet note–cookies from Schmackary’s! Luckily, we get these delivered to the office pretty frequently, so I know which cookies to grab. This week I took the funfetti, along with a piece of the sch’mores and red velvet. I recommend any of the cookies with frosting on top for those who like extra sugar. If that’s not your thing, the maple bacon and monster do the trick!

Tune in next week for the latest edition of “What I Ate in a Week.” Will it make you hungry? Probably...but, we can help with that.
