Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door… and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).
With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual—never not hungry—Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks”—our weekly Grubhub credit. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.
On deck, we have: Erik, a Senior Specialist at Grubhub. Get the lowdown on his delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.
Let’s meet Erik
Hello! I was born in New York City, grew up in the Bay Area and currently live in San Francisco. I started in customer support and then joined the team that sets up tech for restaurants on Grubhub. Now, I work on the Logistics and Supply team at Grubhub.
Here are Erik’s top delivery eats from last week…
Keema Naan from North India Restaurant
Indian food is one of my favorite cuisines. I like to order it when I need a pick-me-up. I ordered Keema Naan from North India Restaurant. It’s ground-up lamb and spices placed in between naan bread, cooked in a tandoori oven and buttered on both sides. If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine, I highly recommend it!
For the curry, I chose Chicken Makhani. It’s also known as Butter Chicken. It’s very similar to Chicken Tikka Masala. The difference being that Makhani has butter added—which gives it a really nice taste. To complement the curry, I added Saffron Rice to my order. It’s always nice to mix the two.
Cold Cut Combo Sandwich from Subway
For lunch, I went with an old classic—an Italian Cold Cut Combo from Subway. It included ham, salami, bologna and all the veggies. I also threw on a lil’ buffalo sauce for that extra kick. This is a good go-to for any Grubhub credit users who want a cheaper lunch but may have spent a lot earlier (like on some good Indian food).
Chicken Cobb Salad from Belcampo
Every now and then I try to eat healthy. Belcampo has the best salads. It’s become a new favorite of mine. Here we have chicken, tomatoes, blue cheese, Belcampo Bacon, avocado and a hard-boiled egg. Every bite of the Chicken Cobb Salad is so good. Belcamp is known for its burgers as well—if you’re ever in the mood.
Chicken Combo from Fire of Brazil Express
Fire of Brazil Express is another one of my favorite lunch grabs. I ordered a chicken combo with a Rio Salad. The chicken is cooked Brazilian-style on skewers and with fresh Brazilian spices. And the Rio Salad consists of corn, tomatoes, onions and green peppers. You get a lot for $12.
Chicken Noodle Soup from Tokyo Express
Tokyo Express puts a unique Asian twist on the classic chicken noodle soup. The soup is made of chicken, Udon noodles, spinach and a savory broth. Located right below the office, it’s a consistent lunch and post-work hangout spot for many in the San Francisco office.
