What I Ate in a Week: Elizabeth’s Food Diary

Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door…and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).

With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.

On deck, we have: Elizabeth, a Coordinator of Marketing Partnerships at Grubhub. Get the lowdown on his delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.

Let’s meet Elizabeth.

Hi there! I’m Elizabeth and a Chicago native. I moved back from Dallas about a year ago.  Readjusting to winter wasn’t easy… at all. Thankfully, it’s summer and I can say that I semi-survived. My hobbies include trying new workout classes, scoping out new restaurants and bars, traveling as much as possible, and cheering on Chicago sports teams. I currently live two blocks from Wrigley Field, so you can guess who I root for!

Here are my top eats from last week…

North Napa Salad and Cauliflower and Rice Bowl from Farmer’s Fridge

Started the week off right with Farmer’s Fridge. I love it because it’s gluten-free friendly. (I have celiac’s disease.) Finding good, gluten-free options on Grubhub is so easy. I used my mealperks to get the pairing option of the North Napa Salad and Cauliflower & Rice bowl.

Custom Salad from Sweetgreen

Picked up my favorite custom salad from Sweetgreen on the way home from checking out the new Manet & Modern Beauty exhibit at The Art Institute. Instead of salad dressing, I like to add red pepper flakes and a squeeze of lime. Tip: in special instructions, ask to have the salad mixed & chopped.

Taco de Pollo from Big Star

You know the saying “You can take the girl outta Texas”… Well, Texas left its mark on me. That being said, I think tacos should be their own food group and a daily staple. My go-to delivery order is Big Star’s Taco de Pollo and Taco de Panza. I placed a pre-order so that my tacos arrived at my apartment at the same time I did. It’s my favorite #lifehack.

Beauty Brew Smoothie from Protein Bar

I placed a pickup order at Protein Bar to grab breakfast on my way into the office after my morning workout–an intense spin class. I love that their Beauty Brew smoothie has Vital Proteins collagen in it.

Blackwood Barbeque

Every Friday, we use Grubhub Catering to order breakfast for our floor. This week, we had Blackwood Barbeque. We ordered an assortment of Hash for a Bunch and BBQ Breakfast Wraps. My favorite is the brisket hash. Friday breakfast is the best start to the day…and really, the weekend.

Tune in next week for the latest edition of “What I Ate in a Week.” Will it make you hungry? Probably...but, we can help with that.
