What I Ate in a Week: Aaron’s Food Diary

Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door…and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).

With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.

On deck, we have: Aaron, a Product Designer at Grubhub. Get the lowdown on his delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.

Let’s meet Aaron.

Hey! I’m Aaron and I live in Boston with my wife and my two Shiba Inus. I work in design and spend my spare time rock climbing (indoor), playing games (all types, seriously), and exploring food (cooking, baking, cocktail-making). My favorite food is ramen and I love most Asian and Asian-inspired cuisine. I also have a pretty serious weakness for chocolate.

And here are my top delivery eats from last week…

Chicken Mushroom Tomato Zoodles from Minigrow

You’ll notice a trend when you read on. Yes, I did get Minigrow twice this week…but different meals, ok?! Today I went with something simple and straightforward–a custom bowl with chicken, mushrooms, tomatoes, zoodles, and their classic minigrow spice. A perfect light lunch that leaves me energized instead of feeling weighed down. (Friday’s for the fun meal!) An added bonus: This meal I paid for with American Express points! Love that I can use them here so seamlessly!

Custom Bowl from Minigrow

Minigrow is a new addition to Grubhub and I am loving that fact. I always opt for a bowl with egg white noodles, salmon, some veggies, and one of their amazing dressings. Usually, it’s a tight battle between the spicy miso garlic and the ginger scallion soy.

The noodles are always perfectly cooked and the salmon is amazing (and let’s be honest, not every fast-casual place can do salmon perfectly every time!)

I always make sure to donate my change when ordering…because it’s always nice to spare a little change for a good cause!

Vegetarian Ramen from Hakata Ramen

I recently moved and one of the best parts of my move is being within Grubhub delivery range of multiple ramen shops. I am ramen-obsessed, to the point where I’m going to Tokyo soon, in large part to try more ramen! Hakata Ramen always delivers with their kimchi-based vegetarian ramen which is always a nice break from the heavier pork-based ramens that fill my winters!

Chicken Katsu Curry from Wagamama

Wagamama will always hold a place close to my heart. I worked there for a few years in college and actually met my wife there! In addition to that, their chicken katsu curry hits hard! Perfectly crispy chicken with a delicious yellow curry sauce. As someone who can’t do dairy, I appreciate that almost their entire menu is dairy-free. I work pretty close to Wagamama and our office is moving soon. When we move we’ll be literally across the street! They can expect many more orders from me. Btw, make sure to open the “Pickup Instructions” section and check the box:

“Spare me the napkins and plasticware. I’m trying to save the earth.”  It’s easy to do your part for the planet–especially when you have silverware at home–and this is a great way that Grubhub allows us to help with that!

Tune in next week for the latest edition of “What I Ate in a Week.” Will it make you hungry? Probably...but, we can help with that.
