Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure
delicious food finds its way to your door…and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).
With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.
On deck, we have: Nandini, a B2B Marketing Associate on the Driver Marketing Team. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.
Let’s meet Nandini.
Hi, my name’s Nandini! After living in cities such as Mumbai, Singapore, San Francisco and now, Chicago, I’ve eaten some delicious (vegetarian) dishes that are NOT salads. I either love extremely spicy foods or any dessert that has chocolate in it. I consider myself the poster child for food delivery because my cooking skills are subpar, but I still love exploring new cuisines.
And here are my top delivery eats from last week…
Tofu bowl from High Tide Poke
I know people enjoy treating themselves on Friday, but Monday is always when I need the biggest push. A great vegetarian alternative to fish is miso tofu. It’s soft, and the employees at High Tide Poke usually marinate it really well. This bowl had a brown rice and quinoa base (look! healthy!), and I customized it with edamame, fresh jalapeno, pickled ginger, cucumber, and kale. I then topped it off with some spicy mayo and crispy onions for good measure. My mouth is literally watering while I write about this because the flavors were strong but also worked so well together.
Pita wrap from BenjYehuda
The second meal I ate was Middle Eastern-inspired. I ordered a falafel wrap from BenjYehuda with grilled and soft flatbread (so soft… you could sleep on it). I added hummus, baba ganoush, carrots and a blend of tahini sauce and the restaurant’s “signature hot sauce.” I love this place because they give you SO MUCH food at such a reasonable price point. I know wraps can get really messy, and this picture thankfully does not actually show you what actually happened, but I’d like to think that the messier the wrap, the yummier it is.
Vegetarian six-inch sub from Subway
I know this dish is a little more mainstream than the two featured above, but I needed something quick and easy between meetings. I love how easily I can place a pickup order on Grubhub–so I tend to do that quite frequently. Fun fact: The employees at this particular Subway branch and I are on a first name basis (life goals?).
My ideal Subway sandwich includes the veggie patty and a mix of the chipotle southwest and sweet onion sauces. Oh, the one thing I forgot to document is Subway’s famed chocolate chip cookie. I usually treat myself with one of those because a cookie a day keeps my cravings away.
