Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door….and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).
With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peak into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.
On deck, we have: Rachel, an Art Director on our Creative Team. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.
Let's meet Rachel:
Hey guys, I’m Rachel! I live in Brooklyn, where I’m living my 20s to the fullest. And if this were my Bachelor contestant profile, it would probably say I’m a Visual Flavor Engineer. What is that? You tell me.
And here are my top delivery eats from last week…
Greek Salad from The Mill:
On Monday, I’m getting back in the swing of things after a weekend at home. I’m from Nashville, so the goal is to erase all the damage three days of hot chicken can do to the human body. I’m pretty busy catching up after a day off, but could use a leg stretch…so I order a greek salad from The Mill for pickup. A desk salad is less sad if you venture into the outside world to get it, right? I truly hate salads, but this one is pretty good. God bless Kalamata olives.
Chicken Tikka Masala with Garlic Naan from Bombay Heights:
This fine Wednesday night I’m putting furniture together. That means carrying several boxes up to my 4th floor apartment…and using a screwdriver. I have not grocery shopped since traveling, so you can bet your life I’m ordering chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and stretching that out to cover dinner and lunch tomorrow. This is my go-to “treat yourself” meal, so I don’t need to do any exploring. Grubhub’s express reorder makes it easy to get my favorite dish from my favorite spot without spending 45 minutes second guessing myself. This chicken tikka is perfectly creamy, spicy, and savory. The rice and naan carb combo makes up for that time I made myself eat a salad.
American Honey Pizza from &Pizza:
Friday in the office often means Bagels and Lox. And free breakfast often means I forget to eat lunch. At this point, it’s 2 p.m. and I need a sort of lunch-dinner bridge situation. I ordered the American Honey from &Pizza which has goat cheese, pepperoni, some spicy honey drizzle AND arugula. I love fancy-looking sneaky greens! I also love that this pizza is oblong, which makes it look more conquerable if I happen to decide to eat the whole thing in one sitting. Bonus: cute box!
Sushi from Aburi
Saturday night my boyfriend’s back in town, and our typical reunion ritual is “binge watch TV and order a ton of sushi.” I have never physically seen our favorite spot near his apartment, but this place Aburi has shumai miso soup, which is a slightly odd but delightful combination. Just like us! I add a few rolls to my bag then split that bill with the Venmo option because y’all, it is 2018. Dutch, baby!
